THE BEST OF 2019

2019 was another busy and productive year of bird photography. It was so much fun to visit new countries and even new continents!

My main photo shoots this year were to Guatemala in April and Australia in September.

In addition, my workshops also had me back in Colombia, South Ecuador, Costa Rica and Vancouver Island. Meanwhile Jess led groups to Ecuador, Costa Rica and Peru.

I also continued to produce new EBook content through my "Process with Me" series of Photoshop guides.

COLOMBIA

The year once again began in Colombia where I led my annual Photo Workshop in this beautiful Andean nation. It was a great tour and we had so many incredible photo opportunities.

As I like to do I spent an extra few days before the trip to target a few key species. This time my main target was the Green-bearded Helmetcrest. Success!!!

SOUTH ECUADOR

A few weeks after Colombia I packed up again and headed back to the Andes. This time to kick off a brand new photo tour in the south of Ecuador.

The tour was a great success and we found tonnes of good birds to photograph. It was so nice to visit some of these sites again after many years.

In March I led my annual Vancouver Island trips and also had a few private lessons here in Victoria.

In May I had a quick visit back to Ontario to visit family and was able to sneak out in the early morning hours to get a few images.

My fianal trip for the year was perhaps the most exciting of all - a month in Western Australia. I had been invited to be the keynote speaker at the Birdlife Australia Photo Conference and jumped at the opportunity.

It was so exciting to be on a completely new continent where every plant, animal and, of couirse, bird was new and different. What a fantastic month!!!

2019 has been another great year of bird photography!

My 2020 plans are in full swing. I'll be shooting in Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, Argentina and hopefully Panama. I'm also planning a big cross Canada road trip. With any luck I'll have another good collection to share with you by this time next year.
